The Guardian of Milian
Tradition
The story of Panagiotis Vichos is inseparable from the culinary identity of Milos. He is the man who took a family tradition and turned it into a living legend, making the Milian “Koufeto” famous worldwide.
A traditional wedding sweet
Growing up among with the aromas of the Milian kitchen, Panagiotis realized early on that the island’s wealth lay not just in its mines, but in its fruits. With passion and respect for heritage, he founded “Παραδοσιακά Εδέσματα Μήλου.” His goal was simple yet noble: to ensure that the art of the traditional wedding sweet, the “Koufeto”, would never be lost.
For Panagiotis, Koufeto is more than just a sweet; it is the blessing, the hospitality, and the soul of Milos preserved in a jar.
Through his workshop, he continues to use the volcanic sweet pumpkin, pure thyme honey, and local almonds, simmering them in traditional cauldrons just as his ancestors did.
